Can You Take to Coax Signals on One Wire Then Split Again

I recently had Time Warner install cable Tv set and Internet service in my firm. I asked the install tech if information technology was possible to separate the coax at the wall so I could have the cablevision modem and gear up height box located at the aforementioned identify in the business firm.

He declined my asking saying that they only permit that in apartments and non residential houses.

My questions are:
1. Will there be whatever issues in splitting the coax and having both the modem and dvr operate off of the same line?
two. If information technology is possible, is there anything I have to consider when buying a splitter?

Y'all shouldn't run into whatever problems, but I can't speak for Time Warner cablevision. I'1000 using Comcast and I have the line from the wall is split three ways:

1) Cable Ready Top box (sits in the lower shelf of the entertainment eye)
2) Cable modem (sits in back, elevation shelf of the amusement eye)
3) Wall pass-through to the bedchamber HTPC

I haven't experienced whatsoever problems at all with this setup.

Wolf - Thanks for the feedback on your experience. Quick follow up question: Do you have HD service with an hdtv tv, and if so did y'all notice whatever quality loss later on splitting the betoken?

I didn't get Hard disk Service or my HDTV until later on I moved in and prepare up the splitter, so I couldn't say. Distressing. Hard disk nevertheless looks good to me (720p).

For those who may be searching threads: The issue of apartment vs. dwelling is one of distribution. An flat building is wired with distribution amplifiers and each apartment may have ane to iii outlets. The cable guy knows what to expect for that apartment building. A homeowner is responsible for their own setup and a prewired house could have ten outlets on two or more floors. If your cablevision run to your Idiot box/Cablebox/Modem is direct with no other splitters feeding other rooms first, there is no problem splitting at the wall. But if you have a 10 room two story firm with 5 TV's, two Tivo's or more, you need to have a proper distribution prepare up or you can run out of signal strength.

the all-time way to do information technology is to run its own line direct after the principal feed (rg-11).
so you want the rg-eleven to a two fashion splitter. from the two mode y'all want i line out for web and one line out to a cable amp and cable splitters.

if yous stick it behinde the cable amp yous will drop because the information cant pass the amp. unless you become a two way amp from your cable service.
and data is two style were cable television set is one way so it volition sent packets of information to the wrong spot (some to the tv and some to the modem.)
